Dear Fishin’ Friends,
All the bad press that Mexico has been getting for the last couple of years is 100% drug related. As you know I live in Arkansas. In Little Rock alone there have been 49 homicides so far this year. How many are drug related, I don’t know. I personally would rather be in Mexico. I don’t know of a single case where a tourist has been injured or killed by the Mexican drug cartel. Tourists are well respected in Mexico.
Fishing pressure has been off for 3 or 4 months on all the Mexican lakes. October and November are great times to go. Prices are reduced on most of the lakes. After 20 years of fishing in Mexico I had my best trip ever mid-October last year. Look at the reports on my website on Lake Baccarac. My son, Keith, and I caught 23 bass over 8 pounds with the largest being 11pounds 8 ounces. We fished four days.
One of my very good friends, Jimmie Manley, made five trips to Baccarac. He caught two over 12 pounds and a total of fifty over ten pounds. There is no lake in the world that even comes close to that. Those of you who know Jimmie know that he doesn’t fudge one ounce. My good friend, Don Hock, got to witness most of Jimmie’s catches. Don didn’t fare quite that well. Jimmie said Don whined a lot and stayed in the front of the boat most of the time. (Just kidding, Don.)
Brazil is good, if not better, than ever. They now have a Delta flight out of Atlanta. The flight leaves at 8 or 9 in the evening and comes back early morning. This way you don’t have to stay overnight. The prices are the same as they have been for the past two years. The prices range from $3750 to $4250 depending on the boat and time of year.
All Mexican lakes are somewhat low but the rainy season runs through October. On Lake EL Salto the price for Oct. Nov. and Dec. is $300 off the regular price for the 3 day or 4 day trip. Comedero is $400 off the regular price on the 3 day or 4 day trips. Lake Baccarac the first 8 people to book get $200 off 3 day or 4 day packages. Lake Guerrero prices are the same and it should be a great year there. The past three years water has been high and spawns have been good. Guerrero is the least pricey of all the trips to Mexico.
This fall would be a great time to go. Prices are cheaper and fishing is as good as the spring. Check out my website for any info and if I can be of any help contact me by phone 501-525-4226 or e-mail me. (green-ricky@sbcglobal.net) Remember, if you book through me, the price is the same as the lodges’ price and I will always give you advice and personal attention. Let’s go to Mexico and catch some fish!
Bass Wishes,
Ricky Green
